Ian Hunter

Non-Executive Director

Ian Hunter was originally trained and educated to take up a senior role in the publishing industry, but joined Sir M MacDonald & Partners (now Mott MacDonald) as the first marketing and communications specialist in Consulting Civil Engineering. During this role, Ian specialised in submissions for significant civil engineering projects across the world.

He then joined Hill + Knowlton, a leading international PR consultancy and a few years later joined the advertising agency Lintas as an Account Director, where he published a number of boutique magazine titles for clients.

After several other senior roles in marketing and communications, Ian led the investor communications strategy for Henderson Crosthwaite, (then the UK’s largest private client stockbroker), through ‘Big Bang’ and winning a number of awards. Ian then moved to BP Oil International to lead the internal communications and investor team in conjunction with their major change management and restructuring programme. From there, he went back to the Middle East to launch The Peninsula newspaper for Al Sharq Publishing in Qatar.

Returning to London and as a communications specialist, Ian then became involved in the Dot Com boom working on a number of M&A projects which lead to a hands-on involvement in the digital communications explosion.

With his extensive international experience and background in major engineering projects, Ian became an advisor to leading property developers through Europe and further afield.

With the collapse of the property sector in 2009 Ian returned to the world of digital communication and commerce. He held the position of Head of Commercial Services for IMRG the association representing online retailers where he generated membership growth and revenues by 40% through the recession and is considered to be a digital commerce specialist.

Ian’s digital marketing and communications consultancy works closely with clients inbound into the UK. His digital publishing activities include two publications, one in eCommerce and the second in Travel and Leisure.
